Sulpician Seminary at Issy-les-Moulineaux

One week from today at the Sulipician Seminary in Issy-les-Moulineaux, the General Assembly of the Society of the Priests of Saint Sulpice will begin. Thirty delegates from around the world will gather for two weeks to elect a new General Council and to make decisions setting the orientation for the next six years.

The following prayer has been used by Sulpician confreres for the least several weeks to invoke God’s blessing on the Assembly and to pray for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit, fill us with your wisdom and love!

Please pray for the success of the Assembly. Some announcements on major decisions will be posted on this site during the Assembly.

Prayer for the General Assembly of the Society of Saint Sulpice, 2014

Gracious Lord of all mercy and hope, we praise and thank you for the gift of the priesthood
and the precious ministry of priestly formation entrusted to us.

We now humbly ask that you send the wisdom and power of your Holy Spirit upon our brothers who will gather soon for the General Assembly of the Society of the Priests of Saint Sulpice.

Bestow upon them the ability to discern the path of truth and light. Make them firm in their resolve to work for the good of the whole Society and to promote with enthusiasm and courage the gospel of your Son Jesus Christ.

Grant our brothers all the grace necessary to discern the path of righteousness and to lead us toward the future with hearts full of love and an ardent missionary desire.

In the spirit of our founder Father Olier, strengthen all of us to become your worthy apostolic instruments in our efforts for the new evangelization. Give us also the comfort of Mary, mother of priests and Star of the New Evangelization, to accompany us on our journey of faith.

For every blessing of the past, and for the hopes of the future, we now praise and thank you, gracious God, through your Son Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit now and forever. Amen.

Faithful servant of God Jean-Jacques Olier, and Blessed Sulpician martyrs, intercede for us!
