Former Superior General

Father Constant Bouchaud, the well-known former Superior General and former Procurator of the Sulpicians, celebrated his 90th birthday on February 15, 2010. The day before, a small group of confreres gathered at the Swiss Hospital in Issy-les-Moulineaux, a suburb of Paris, to celebrate the occasion. Father Bouchaud had been hospitalized for some days because of health problems.

The current Superior General, Ronald D. Witherup, was the principal concelebrant and homilist for a Mass that was held in a hospital lounge. Father Bernard Pitaud, the Provincial of France, also participated in the Mass and spoke some words of gratitude on behalf of the French Province for all that Father Bouchaud had accomplished in his long ministry.

Fortunately, Father Bouchaud was feeling better that day and was quite pleased with the celebration, which concluded with partaking of a delicious cake and some champagne.

On behalf of the entire Compagnie de Saint-Sulpice, we wish Father Bouchaud "Happy Birthday" and better health!
