355th Anniversary of Death

April 2, 2012 marks the 355th anniversary of the death of the founder of the Society of the Priests of Saint Sulpice, Father Jean-Jacques OLIER.

A major figure in the so-called French School of Spirituality, Father Olier was renowned for his personal holiness, his spiritual writings, and his tireless devotion to the renewal of the Church through the reformation of the Catholic clergy. As the pastor of the Church of Saint Sulpice, Father Olier inspired the seminarians of his time to be firmly rooted in a solid life of prayer and meditation, while retaining a strong pastoral sensitivity to serve the parishioners with dedication.

On this anniversary, the entire Society of Saint Sulpice rejoices and gives thanks to God for the gift of such an inspiring founder.
