Nineteen delegates and ex officio members from the U.S. Province of Sulpicians are meeting this week at St. Mary’s Seminary & University in Baltimore, Maryland for a Provincial Assembly, the highest authoritative body in the Province. The Superior General, Ronald D. WITHERUP, PSS, is also attending many of the sessions and will be present to confirm the election of the Provincial Superior.

In addition to deliberating over propositions that will guide the life of the Province for the next six years, the Assembly will elect a new Provincial Council. The current members of the Council, who are also coordinating the Assembly, are:

Thomas ULSHAFER, PSS, Provincial

Daniel MOORE, PSS, First Consultor
John KEMPER, PSS, Second Consultor
James MYERS, PSS, Third Consultor
James McKEARNEY, PSS, Fourth Consultor

The delegates have come from Baltimore, Washington, California, Texas, and as far away as Lusaka, Zambia, where the Province has been ministering in priestly formation since 1989. Father Leo GAJARDO, PSS, a young Sulpician studying theology in Rome, is functioning as the recording secretary for the Assembly.
