During its General Assembly currently taking place at Issy-les-Moulineaux, the Society of the Priests of Saint Sulpice has reelected for a second six-year term Very Rev. Ronald D. Witherup, P.S.S., as Superior General, and elected four general consultors from various countries representing the Provinces of France, Canada and the United States:

● first consultor, Fr. David D. Thayer, P.S.S. (USA),

● second consultor, Fr. Argiro Restrepo, P.S.S. (Canada),

● third consultor, Fr. Joseph Ho Thu, P.S.S. (Vietnam),

● fourth consultor, Fr. Pierre de Martin de Viviès, P.S.S. (France).

Ronald D. WITHERUP, P.S.S., 64 years old, is a U.S. citizen. Ordained a priest in 1976 for the Diocese of Erie, Pa, he entered the Society in 1981. He just completed his first term as Superior General of the Society. A doctor in biblical studies, he speaks several languages and has published numerous books, most recently, La Bible, Guide pour Tous (Mediaspaul, 2014), and The Word of God at Vatican II: Dei Verbum (Liturgical Press, 2014).

The Assembly will now turn its attention to identifying themes and formulating propositions to guide the work of the new General Council for the next six years.
