Superior General Visit

From 20 to 26 January 2013 the Superior General, Father Ronald D. WITHERUP, pss conducted a canonical visit to the Sulpician seminary in the Archdiocese of Hue, Vietnam.

The Rector, Father Alphonse Nguyen Huu LONG, pss, who also serves as Provincial Delegate for the Province of France, arranged a thorough program for the canonical visitation. The seminary currently has 124 seminarians, which will increase next year to some 150 seminarians, the absolute maximum that can fit in the current building. The nine full-time faculty members are all Sulpicians, who are assisted by numerous adjunct faculty members from the area. In addition to the seminary, the Sulpicians have responsibility for the neighboring parish of Kim Long.

Highlights of the visitation included a trip to the national Marian shrine of Our Lady of Lavang and visits with various bishops in the (Arch)Dioceses of Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Kontum, Danang, Phat Diem, and Thai Binh.
