Paris, The Heart of Lights: The Novel of Saint Sulpice, is the title of a sound-and-light show which will take place for one month from October 05 to November 11, 2024, with two shows per evening.

This special event is directed by Damien Fontaine, who conceptualized an immersive show set inside the Church of Saint Sulpice. More than 150 actors and extras will perform for an hour and a half in an extraordinary setting of sound, light, and images. The Novel of Saint Sulpice begins in 1642 with the arrival of Jean-Jacques Olier as the parish pastor. It tells the story of the construction and expansion of the church initiated by Father Olier and his churchwardens, and ends with the French Revolution, which interrupted the project.

Damien Fontaine, who was looking for a Parisian stage for a new show he had conceived, approached Father Henri de La Hougue, the current pastor of Saint Sulpice, over a year ago. He asked to stage the show in a church which, by virtue of its volume and its role as a “secondary cathedral” since the fire at Notre-Dame in 2019, represented the ideal choice for this plot in which spirituality and very human passions come to the fore every evening from October 05 to November 11 of 2024.
